As you journey with me, you’ll find lots of posts on my blog about the most extraordinary adventure of pursuing God and being pursued by Him – of what God is teaching me, evidence of Him, stories of His faithfulness and being God in my life and the lives of others, and studies in God’s Word. I hope you’ll read, comment, and grow with me. I have a lot of room to grow and would love to hear about you, so share your own stories, even disagree with me if you need to, but let’s ultimately have a conversation back and forth with each other to encourage one other forward and to increase in our understanding of and strength in the truth.

New Adventures: Letting God Take Us Into the Glorious Unknown

I have a confession. Throughout this season of my life, I have often found myself looking back at favorite times and wanting to relive those moments for just a little while. I often find myself thinking back to the amazing ways my relationship grew with God during my teenage years, the freedom I had to do things and go places as a single woman, being a part of the National Bible Bee, my high school volleyball team years, the abundance of time my husband and I had alone before kiddo number one came along, and many other favorites. My life…

Life Coming to Dead People: Advent Thoughts for Christmas

Brothers and sisters together, hushed tones, hymns at the bedside, words whispered, approaching death, dark of night, last breaths, silent tears, goodbye tears; our daddy slips away. Body taken. A halting realization: we will never hear that “daddy” voice again. Memories are all at once swept into the past; no more sweet moments are given for the future (in this life). His touch, his voice, his presence gone. One hour there, the next begging to hear, to hug, to see, to talk to again. A body once full of life and personality, breath, and identity, the next minute empty and cold. Death. …

Fact or Fiction: Are the Bible’s Claims True?

November 30th, 2011 Susanna Biddinger Fact or Fiction Across the ages, many have debated over the authenticity of the Bible. Since its birth, many have sought to destroy the Bible. Many have persistently argued that this ancient document is riddled with errors, while young and old have died for its preservation and unwaveringly defended its contents. Being written over a span of about 1,500 years, on three continents (Asia, Africa, & Europe), and in three separate languages (Hebrew, Greek, & Aramaic), the Bible stands out as a much different document than any other, religious or otherwise. Over forty authors penned…

Signature of Design: Seeing God’s Fingerprints in Creation

*NOTE: I love apologetics! It makes me excited to be able to research, read, and think about why I believe what I believe. As a young teenager, I realized that my faith had to become my own (not my parents’, friends’, or anyone else’s). It had to be real to me. I could not put my faith into something and live my life for something that other people said was right, but I did not know intimately myself. Throughout the years and through seeing God’s unmistakable presence in my life, research, reading, and pondering I have only become more convinced…

Black Hearse

A sleek black hearse idled in front of me. Pouring rain. I could barely see. The reality of death, yet disbelief in its reality, rested in my heart. At sixteen I never imagined that I would be here. I sat in the driver’s seat of our family van ready for the black hearse to pull out in front of me – leading me to the cemetery for my own dad’s burial. Around Christmas time of 2008, my dad was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer and given little hope for living past 6 months to a year. Radiation would only shrink…

Embracing Pain

…Accepting pain. Even embracing it… For me, pregnancy brought on this concept, and it keeps coming to my mind over the last several months over and over again. First trimester nauseousness, puking, and stretching aches. Second trimester pregnancy gingivitis, arms falling asleep at night, burping (my poor husband!), and heartburn. Third trimester hugeness, discomfort, back pain, nauseousness, and puking again. Things I wouldn’t normally choose to experience. Our culture often tends to give us a message that pain isn’t a good thing. While as a culture we want a good end result, at the same time the culture subtly encourages the…
