Surviving Harried Motherhood Moments

Monday morning came, and I set out for one of my first few grocery shopping trips with my baby boy. This Monday, I got to the store, through the store, and was almost through the line without Oakley making a peep – fast asleep in his carseat! My total came up, and I slid my debit card through the scanner. This shopping trip was going to be a breeze. Rejected. I slid it through again. Rejected. I apologized, and the cashier suspended my transaction while I figured things out. I called my husband at work, and he quickly transferred funds for me. I waited…

Product Recommendation: Labor and Nursing Gown

Andrew and I planned on having a home birth, and I wanted something comfy and cute to wear! Now when it comes to having a baby, modesty seems relatively impossible! Call me crazy, but that part about having a baby made me a little nervous!! 🙂 I knew I would feel better if I could find something to wear during labor and delivery that covered my body, yet wouldn’t get in the way and would be easy to nurse in afterward too! I found something that looked like a possibility on Amazon and put it on my baby registry. My…

Preparing My Heart For Labor and Delivery | 13 Scriptures to Meditate On

As Oakley’s due date got closer and anticipation mounted, I found my excitement mixed with fearfulness. Many times in my third trimester, I would think, “I’ll go through anything to get this baby out, so I can meet him!” followed by, “Actually, maybe not quite yet!” I never had gone through this whole having a baby thing, and I heard it is just a bit painful. Even my 8 year old nephew would come up to me before Oakley was born, put his hand on my shoulder, and say, “You know, Suey, having a baby is going to be the most…

Meet Oakley James!

Our baby boy, Oakley James Biddinger, was born on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at 10:51 in the morning! Andrew and I are so ecstatic to have him here! Our little man was born 8 days before his due date; at birth, he measured 22 and 1/2 inches and weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces. At his five day check-up with our midwife, he was already nine pounds; and at his 10 day check-up he was 9 pounds 14 ounces!!! That’s over a pound and a half that he has gained in 10 days. I can’t believe how fast he is growing…

Are Your Kids Wearing You Out?

I’m almost 37 weeks, and I’m getting bigger than ever! Our little man moves around quite a bit, and it definitely feels like he is outgrowing his cocoon – at least, I’m outgrowing my clothes! It seems like that must mean he is outgrowing his space too! Over the last two weeks I have started getting more Braxton Hicks contractions. Sometimes, my belly has been getting so tight for so long that I think I will burst; it feels amazing when it decides to relax again! I feel awkward and weird in just about every position, and I only have one…

Fears of a First-Time MOM

Fear is an emotion that I actually didn’t think of having (or think of wrestling with much) when it came to starting a family.  I love children! I purposely spend time with them. I have excitedly dreamed, even before I was married, of what it would be like to have a little life growing inside of me someday. I imagined how amazing it would be to have kids of my own to love and cuddle and watch as their small lives grew into big adult lives. I always dreamed of having a large family (I used to say 22 kids –…

The Fun Box: Creating Memorable Moments

A few years ago I had the idea of creating a special box for the kids in my life. At that time I was not married and definitely did not have kids of my own, but I was around kids all the time. Growing up as the youngest of seven made it easy for me to quickly become the aunt of 24 nieces and nephews. I loved entertaining them, playing with them, and taking care of them. From that was launched my desire to babysit as a job. From the time I was old enough to, I began watching my nieces and…
